2. Main field of activities of your institution:

Stavropol State Agrarian University is one of the largest agrarian universities in the Russian Federation with an 80 years history and is one of the best among them according to the rating held by Russian Ministry of Education.

Nowadays 16.5 thousand students are studying in the university on full-time attendance and part-time attendance according to 72 professional educational programs (Specialist’s, Bachelor’s and Master’s Programs). The scientific and scientific pedagogical staff is tutored according to 35 postgraduate specialities and 8 doctorate specialities. There are more than 400 postgraduate students, PhD students and applicants of scientific degree. There are 5 PhD councils in 12 biological, agrarian, technological, veterinarian and economic fields.

There are 8 faculties, 57 departments, 90 innovational structural subdivisions, strong scientific industrial background, educational substation, library, publishing polygraphist complex as well as 6 dormitories, catering centre, sport and fitness centre, horse-racing school and many other subdivisions.

Stavropol state agrarian university has reliable partners in 59 countries including Germany, Czech Republic, the UK, the USA, Poland, China, Italy, etc. Cooperation with international universities, public organizations, companies and firms includes projects and grants, distant education, staff exchange, developed student mobility, double diploma programs, etc.

In 2008 the university entered the Magna Charta Universitatum – the association of 570 leading global universities. Accession to this association confirms the highest quality of educational programs and scientific research.

Stavropol State Agrarian University is the member of the Association of European Business that unites 670 leading global companies and organizations. In the frames of this association the university cooperates with such world-known companies as CLAAS, John Deere, BASF and many others.

Stavropol State Agrarian University is the member of the Association of European Life-Science Universities (62 life-science universities from 30 European countries). The main goal of this organization is the development of scientific, research and educational activities in the sphere of agriculture and life sciences across Europe.

Tempus IV initiatives of Stavropol State Agrarian University

Initiative 1

Project "Development of Vocational Training in the Sphere of Rural Development and Rural Tourism"

The programs of vocational training MDRART – Management of Development of Rural Areas and Rural Tourism is already developed in SSAU and is in the process of international accreditation by FIBAA – Foundation of International Business Administration Accreditation (Germany).

The program “Management of Development of Rural Areas and Rural Tourism” (MDRART) offers the opportunity to study either Russian or European vision on rural development in its diversity of approaches and applications.

The main objective of MDRART is to train specialists in integrated rural development, focused on socio-economic and institutional aspects, not only from the Russia, but also from European Union and other developed, developing and transition countries outside the European Union.

The main tasks of the program are the following:

1. To form clear ideas about the special aspects of management of development of rural territories and rural tourism.

2. To provide students with the scientific idea on the theory of rural development.

3. To consider modern tendencies of the development of rural territories and rural tourism.

The strategic direction of further development of agriculture in Stavropol Region is the development of high quality educational programs in rural development and rural tourism. This program will let to get serious and wide knowledge for further career development of the manager and economic development of rural territories.


Initiative 2


Project "Development of Vocational Training in the Sphere of International Business"

The programs of vocational training “International Business” is already developed in SSAU and is in the process of international accreditation by FIBAA – Foundation of International Business Administration Accreditation (Germany).

The program pursues the following objectives:

1. Training for the effective professional activity in the field of management of organizations of different type of property on the international markets and in the functional fields of management.

2. Providing students with a framework for thinking about planning and carrying out international business. This frame work has one principal advantage. Once developed, the framework is applied to a variety of business settings. The applications integrate concepts from finance, economics, and accounting to achieve a more complete understanding of the business strategy in the international economics.

3. Focusing on using experimental methods in the business world – from the workplace to dealings with the customer. It will include hands-on experience in designing optimal experiments, collecting data from experimental exercises. Through this process it will become clear that such feedback is essential for a good business practice, even though managers everyday unwittingly use these opportunities.

4. Teaching students the frameworks for formulating managerial decision models that represent real-world problems in a wide range of business areas including operations, marketing, finance, and strategy.

Initiative 3

Project on the development of regional business and entrepreneurship.

The basic purpose of the given project consists in assistance to development of business and regional entrepreneurship by providing them with the necessary and sufficient volume of educational services. Achievement of the given purpose should bring the essential contribution to activization the employment policy in North-Caucasus Federation District (NCFD), to elimination and mitigation of the reasons of unemployment, will keep a high level of labour qualification in the region, will provide their social security, will allow to involve to the entrepreneur activity the maximal number of citizens, and as a whole will increase competitiveness both businesses in NCFD, and all system of higher education of the region.

Within the framework of the project the following purposes should be achieved:

1. Creation the Center of personnel retraining (business-school) giving educational services to NCFD businessmen in the field of economics.

2. Development and implementation of special programs of personnel training and retraining for regional businesses with assistance of professional teachers from partner universities.

3. Training and improvement of professional skill of economic faculty teachers in sphere of creation and perfection of the training courses taught within the framework of the Center of personnel retraining.

4. Implementation of professional diagnostics, training, support of development of professional competence and career of regional businessmen with attraction of business-consultants from partner universities.

5. Carrying out the specialized training for regional businessmen during the foreign business trainings with studying the international business experience.

6. Creation of preconditions for development of mutual relations between representatives of business from partner countries to assist the development of economic cooperation between them.

As a result of training in the Center of personnel retraining the regional businessmen will receive modern professional knowledge in the field of entrepreneur activity with the purpose of development of the business-plan, creation of development strategy for existing business, achievement of positive dynamics of their business activity, competitiveness increasing and maintenance of the steady development.

Initiative 4

Project “Huntsman service and hunting ground”

Target group:

practicing huntsmen, hunting experts, heads of the hunting grounds, employees of public services carrying out control and supervision in the field of functioning of especially protected natural territories

Summary:

to strengthen struggle against poaching, to increase number of the hunting animals, to improve conditions of their dwelling, and also to guide a due order in hunting carrying out, in 1956 at the state hunting inspections in all regions, territories and autonomous republics of RSFSR state huntsman service has been organized. Problems of this service and a duty of huntsmen are defined by temporary regulations about the huntsmen, the Central administrative board of the hunting ground confirmed the same year and reserves at Ministerial council of RSFSR.

Actuality:

as it is known, wildlife management on ecоsystem level is the most effective way of preservation of a biodiversity on genetic, specific and ecosystem levels. Unfortunately, nowadays, preparation of experts in the field of realization of supervising and organizational functions is paid insufficient attention. The majority of huntsmen obtain their profession on a place, on the hunting ground. It is possible to go to study to the educational institutions giving average professional education, for example in the Moscow fur-technical school, or the higher, for example in Institute of forestry or in Agriculture Academy where there is a faculty hunting science. However, in the graduating paper there will be written a speciality "biologist". In this connection, there is a necessity, at least, in the improvements of professional skill of experts of the given area, and at the best – a reshaping taking into account features of work of huntsmen and hunting experts.

Goal:

improvement of professional skill of huntsmen and hunting experts taking into account occurrence of new means, development of biotechnology and new proprietors of hunting grounds.

Methods and actions:

the description of the way the posed tasks will be solved: carrying out of employment under the program of improvement of professional skill in a hospital, remote training of target groups, work from mass-media on advancement of ideas and results of the program of improvement of professional skill, an information premise on sites of nature protection and other organizations, departures of representatives of local group in territory of municipal unions, territories OOPT.

Expected results:

- increase of level of erudition of representatives of target group;

- reduction of quantity of the offenses connected with use of biological resources;

- increase of level of ecological culture of various strata of society.

Initiative 5

Project “Organization and development of the state wildlife conservations, reserves and national parks”

Target group:

official persons of the nature protection agencies, the agency of management of the wildlife conservations and national parks, the principals of the directions of specific land protection, the huntsmen and foresters.

Summary:

creation of the nature protection territories is one of the most important measure in resolving of ecological problems. A big interest to different questions of organization of The NPT is improved by applying this them into the preparatory program in such field as geography, biology, economy, sociology and etc. There are many different national and international not government organizations, which are working out the expanding of ten NPT, its improvement.

Actuality:

in spite those fact that a big attention is given to the organization and development of NPT in Russia, as abroad, there are many problems to be examined: for example, most of the NPT was organized without regarding the main landscape rules. This thing was the main reason of the fail of its functions. This progression of questions requires the preparatory of the high-qualified specialists, who can resolve the problems in the field of organization and regulation of the NPT.

Goal:

creation of the potential for improvement of the quality of management of measures of the NPT.

Expected results:

improvement of quality of management of the NPT, achievement of its sustainable development

Other initiatives:

1. double degrees with European universities;

2. development of international relations (establishment of the Center of the International Programs as the structure coordinating the implementation of various international educational and research programs);

3. development of the necessary institutional preconditions for development of mutual relations with the international educational and research establishments, and also for development of educational process and long-term cooperation of partner universities;

4. curricular development and modernization of existing disciplines.
