VORONEZH STATE UNIVERSITY, RUSSIAN FEDERATION, IS LOOKING FOR PARTNERS

Basic information about Voronezh State University:

Voronezh State University (VSU) is one of the largest and oldest scientific and educational centres of Russia,. It was founded in 1918. The structure of VSU academic departments includes 17 faculties(Applied Mathematics, Computer Sciences and Mechanics; Biology and Soil Science; Chemistry; Computer Sciences; Economics; Geography and Geo-ecology; Geology; History; International Relations; Journalism; Law; Mathematics; Pharmaceutics; Philology; Philosophy and Psychology; Physics; Romance and Germanic Philology.), 5 research institutes, 14 joint laboratories with the Russian Academy of Siences, 10 joint reseach and production centers with the key industrial enterprises of the region, the Centre of Nanosistem and Material industry, Technopark, Botanical Garden, a narutre reserve Galichya Gora. About 21,000 students are taught by 1,700 academic staff, including 292 professors. International students are taught and guided by the Institute of International Education.

Main fields of educational and international activities of department:

 VSU offers academic programmes at all levels including bachelor, master, graduate and post-graduate courses, post-doctoral studies. Long-term scientific and educational international cooperation is based upon direct agreements with 68 universities and research institutes of the world. Since 2002 VSU is a member of European University Association. VSU participated in 7 TEMPUS projects. It also took part as a coordinator in a project o FP6. Now it is participating at a 7FP projects. At present VSU is actively modernising its academic models in line with the principles of the "Bologna process". The university extensively uses teaching quality management and student academic progress monitoring. Innovative teaching technologies are widely in use at VSU. The university is listed by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science among the higher education establishments which are planning to inroduce the innovative credit units approch. Curricula to be modernized: Academic discipline “Mathematics and Computer Science”; Curricula: Mathematical and Computer Modeling

Competences

- skill in handling of the methods of mathematical and algorithmic modeling in the analysis of problems of natural science;

- skill in handling of the methods of mathematical modeling in the analysis of global problems on the basis of deep knowledge of basic mathematical sciences and computer sciences;

- independent analysis of physical aspects in the classical formulations of mathematical problems.

Existing courses that are expected to upgrade:

- Intelligent Data Analysis,

- The theory of wavelets,

- Theoretical questions of coding,

- Neural Networks,

- Simulation of systems with discontinuous nonlinearities

- The study of models of mathematical physics with the help of projection-grid methods,

- Modeling of Systems with Delay,

- Theoretical basis for the creation of computational systems for solving boundary value problems

- Computer technology in the economic calculations

- Objectives of inventory management,

- Stochastic models in financial mathematics,

- Mathematical methods in actuarial calculations

- Computer forecasting methods in the social and economic sciences,

- Theoretical foundations of computer analysis of problems with bifurcation,

Curricula to be modernized: It is planed to modernize Master Programme “Firm Management”. Academic discipline in Tempus programme: “Business and Administration” - section “Management and Administration”

Competences: The programme “Firm Management” was formed in the process of reorganisation of programme “Economics and Firm Management” according to the 3d generation standard demands. The reorganised programme has been working for 17 years. Bachelors from Russian and foreign universities are taught under the programme.

Analysis of needs and problems: There is a need to update the teaching of disciplines ensuring the acquisition of the following competencies:

- The ability to acquire and use new knowledge and skills

- Fluency in a foreign language as an instrument of professional communication,

- Skills of public, business and scientific communications

- Ability to develop programs for organizational development and change and ensure their implementation,

- Ability to use quantitative and qualitative methods for research and business process management,

- Knowledge of the methods for economic analysis of economic agents and markets behaviour in a global environment,

- Ability to synthesize and critically evaluate the results obtained by domestic and foreign researchers, to identify and formulate relevant scientific issues,

- Ability to use modern techniques and methods in management disciplines teaching,

Ability to develop curricula and teaching materials for the teaching of management disciplines.

The 1st module consists of “Introduction to Emerging Markets”; “International Finance”; “Leadership”; “M&A in Emerging Markets”.

The 2nd module consists of “Political Economy and institutions”; “International Economy”; “Cross-Cultural Management”; “Ethics in Business”; “Distribution and sales Management”

The 3rd module consists of Thesis and “Marketing research methods”

The 4th module consists of two foreign languages; “Conflict Resolution and Negotiation”; “International Project Management”

Blocks that could be taught in English:

The 2nd semester: Cross-Cultural Management; Global Supply Chain Management; Ethics and CSR; Conflict Resolution and Negotiation; Marketing Research Methods.

The 3rd semester: International Finance; Distribution and Sales Management; M&A in Emerging Markets; Leadership and HR in Emerging Markets; International Strategic Markets

In the framework of the programme the following forms of international cooperation are performed:

Lectures for incoming students from the partner institutions (FH Joanneum, Austria, Hochshule Harz, Germany): Cross-Cultural Management; Ethics in Business; Marketing Research Methods for Bachelor degree receivers, and the same disciplines will be taught for Master degree students since September 2012
