Proposal of academic collaboration of the Ukrainian Catholic University in the frameworks of TEMPUS Program

Being a non-governmental higher education institution with special commitment to liberal arts education, the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) in Lviv has built the model of the independent university in the post-communist setting and aims at instituting and enhancing efficient and transparent relationships with its local and global stakeholders.

UCU offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in theology, philosophy, history, social pedagogy, ecumenical studies, business administration, as well as non-degree programs in public ethics, European studies, bioethics, languages, sacred art, NGO’s management and summer courses for international students. UCU is distinguished with the team of young managers and teachers with the knowledge of modern foreign languages and broad international experience. UCU successfully completed a number of international projects and proved to be a responsible partner.

The Ukrainian Catholic University is known for its independent public position, the scope of its international outreach, its commitment to the issues of social responsibility, its preoccupation with promoting culture of academic excellence and honesty nationwide. To support educational reform, to restore the dignity and quality of education is an important part of UCU’s mission.

 We can propose several possible areas of cooperation for the consideration of interested partners:

- educational management and quality monitoring;

- establishing the study programs in Mass Media and Social Communication to become a platform for raising the level of journalism education in Ukraine to international standards, and also stimulate the modernization of Ukrainian media in general;

- Lviv Business School of UCU is interested in establishing contacts with international partners for cooperation and development its study programs in business education;

- establishing inter-institutional international joint study programs in Humanities;

eveloping student recruitment models, especially for a wider range of professionals: businessmen, journalists, public servants, leaders of non-profit organizations, politicians;

- achieving sustainability in terms of human and financial resources;

- building a 21st century a model university library that will be able make a long-term cultural change;

- promoting university autonomy and reform of higher education in Ukraine;

- developing a new model of structured doctoral programs;

- establishing cooperation with business and other university stakeholders
