Round table on higher education issues

June 2, 2010, Round Table was initiated by the National Tempus-office in Ukraine and National Team of Higher Education Reform Experts in cooperation with National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, the Confederation of Employers of Ukraine.

June 2, 2010, Round Table was initiated by the National Tempus-office in Ukraine and National Team of Higher Education Reform Experts in cooperation with National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, the Delegation of the European Union in Ukraine, the Confederation of Employers of Ukraine.

During the Round table EU Expert Arthur Mettinger shared the experience of Vienna University in terms of Bologna principles implementation and described the situation with the National Qualification Framework development.

Key recommendations on the results of two round tables have been developing and will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and Ministry of Education and Sciences of Ukraine and published on NTO site, in education edition.

All in all, about 100 delegates from 20 public and private higher education institutions of Ukraine and research institutions of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine took part in the two-day event.     

During the Round table EU Expert Arthur Mettinger shared the experience of Vienna University in terms of Bologna principles implementation and described the situation with the National Qualification Framework development. He noted gradual Bologna transition in Austria with retaining of attainments and peculiarities of national higher education system. EU Expert pointed to Government funding for special Bologna group. Later, Mr. Arthur Mettinger answered numerous questions and took part in discussion on issues and prospects for Bologna process implementation.

The key challenges and national specific was presented by Dr. Volodymyr Luhovyi, HERE team member, Vice-President of NAPS of Ukraine.

The representatives of the Confederation of Employers of Ukraine and the Universities of Ukraine actively participated in discussions (20 participants).

Key recommendations on the results of two round tables have been developing and will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and Ministry of Education and Sciences of Ukraine by June 15, 2010.

All in all, about 100 delegates from 20 public and private higher education institutions of Ukraine and research institutions of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine took part in the two-day event. Among the participants – representatives of public bodies, HE management, rectors, vice-rectors, department heads, faculties, academic and research staff, doctorates, post-doctorates, public organizations.
