94 UKRAINIANS WERE SELECTED TO STUDY IN EUROPE WITHIN ERASMUS MUNDUS PROGRAMME |
In May 2013, according to the official decision of the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency, 87 Master level scholarships and seven Doctoral level fellowships were awarded to Ukrainians to study in one of the 138 Erasmus Mundus master programmes and 42 joint doctoral programmes. This year out of 147 Erasmus Mundus Master level scholarships assigned to students from six countries of ENPI East (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine), over 50% - 84 scholarships belong to students from Ukraine. In tough competition, seven among 35 Ukrainians, were selected for doctoral fellowship to start studies in 2013 academic year. In the selection round of 2013, the success rate of doctoral applications from Ukraine almost tripled compared to 2012 (20% vs 7%), and success rate for master level applications reached 17% vs 13% in 2012. In 2013 applications were submitted by students originating from over 20 universities across Ukraine. As a result of the Erasmus Mundus competition, students from Kyiv Taras Shevchenko National University, National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy”, National Technical University "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Dnipropetrovsk Oles Gonchar National University and other universities of Ukraine will go to Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, United Kingdom and other countries of the EU to study Mechanics, System Dynamics, Teaching Spanish, Industrial Management, European Forestry, Service Engineering, Ship Design, Journalism, Economic and Law, Russian, Central and East European Studies and other science. Erasmus Mundus Action 1 presents master and doctoral level programmes of outstanding academic quality that are designed and implemented by a consortium of European universities from at least three different countries. Within the programme, scholarships and fellowships for third-country and European students and doctoral candidates, are assigned to follow Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses and Joint Doctorates. The programme also envisages short-term scholarships for researchers from the European Union and partner countries. On average, for two-three years the programme grants about 10 000 – 24 000 EUR for Master students and 19 000 – 30 000 EUR for doctoral candidates including stipend amounted to 1000 EUR and 2 800 EUR for master and doctoral students correspondingly.
